I finally saw Dawn of the Dead! ZOMBIES! This movie was in no way shape or form a remake of the original. The only thing that was similar is that people hid in a shopping mall and zombies were eating people. This was really a whole new movie. I think in a way it's a good thing too. The original is a George Romero Classic and it would have been hard to make a scene for scene remake.
Last night The Funk and I went out with Simona and her friend. They wanted to go hang out in the city so we followed them up to this place called Le Colonial. Actually once we got to the city they followed us since they didn't know their way around. Le Colonial is this French Vietnamese restaurant with a bar/lounge area on it's second floor.
Simona's friend had picked the place but I had a feeling we would be going to Yuppie Hell. I was right, kind of. This was a Tall White Man/Foreign Woman place. You know, like sucky sucky for green card. The DJ there was really good though but this was definitely a non-dancing crowd.
Apparently Simona's friend arranged to meet some dude there and he brought along like 4 of his friends. They were like flies on shit. It got way too crowded and not in a good way. It wasn't like people were feeling the DJ and grooving or anything. They were all just standing there giving an oral presentation of their resumes and shit.
So the Funk and I cut out after about an hour or so. Since we came in different cars Simona had to stay behind with the yuppies. I knew were we had to go to counteract the yuppie stink, 111 Minna. That place always has a good mix of people. There are a few yuppies but there are also bike messengers, artsy fartsies, activists, just damn everybody.
Boy was my hunch correct. We got there and found out that O-maya was playing. They are a very political Afro/Latin band. I would say that their political leaning sway quite close to the communist side. It's not necessarily a viewpoint I come anywhere close to siding with but at least the people are better to party with.
O-maya was already playing when we walked in so we grabbed a couple of Chimay's and headed their way. Mmmmmm, Trappist beer! They were kinda pissed because on the other side of the place they still had the DJ spinning reggae music full blast. They gave a great performance anyway. When they were done we walked over to the other side of the gallery. The people were really feeling the hard hitting, pulsing grooves. Everyone was dancing.
The highlight of the night came when The Funk went to the bathroom one last time and he walked in on some chick giving a guy head in the stall. He backpedaled and went to a urinal. I guess when the next guy busted in on their party she yelled at him that she wasn't finished.
Blowjobgirl, If you somehow find this entry please let me tell you that you are the holy grail of club chicks. Everyone hears about the mythical girl who gives head in the stall at the club but very few get to actually see her, even fewer have the opportunity to be on the receiving end of your greatness. The Funk is truly blessed.
