Yeah, so I was finally able to say "good morning" to this girl that gets on BART at the same station as me every day. The reason it has taken a while is not because I am so shy, which is part of the reason, but also because she always has her back to me when I get to the station. The only way to get in front of her would be to fall off of the platform and onto the tracks.
So anyway today she was going up the escalator and I happened to catch up to her at the top. So as we are walking side by side to our usual spot on the platform I just casually looked over and said "good morning." She, of course, returned the greeting.
Then things went apeshit...
Not between her and I though, it was BART. They announced that a train had broken down outside of Lake Merritt and there would be delays. So "she" started talking to me and we had some small talk going on. Then they announced that there were possible half hour delays. Our talk turned to strategy for getting to the city as soon as possible.
I won't bore you with the details but if you know the BART system, then you know that there are different ways to get to the city via transfers at different points of the system. We were trying to guess if there was any way around the stuck train through one of these transfer points. The only one that could have been open was the 12th ST station in Oakland but the odds were good that the entire East Bay was cut off from San Francisco due to where the train broke down.
We decided to take the next Richmond train up to Bay Faire just to check out the situation. When we got there it was packed. They made an announcement that all trains from Dublin/Pleasanton were only going as far as Bay Faire and then returning to Dublin so we knew that route was cut off. Then they announced that there were now trains to San Francisco coming out of the Fremont station so we hopped on a Fremont station and headed back to where we originated.
We took the train back to the South Hayward station and transferred to a San Francisco train that was waiting on the platform. By this time an hour had already passed from our usual SF train! We also did a lot of talking the whole time. We talked about places to have lunch and places to have a drink after work. She seems like a really nice person. I hope I don't go all retardo and not have anything to say to her when I see her in the mornings.
Anyway, I made it to work a little over an hour "late" but since I don't have to clock in or out and don't have set hours then I guess I'm not really late.
I am going to really really try to put the finishing touches on Poocake's pimp cut tonight. I swear I'm always late with my gifts to her. I come through eventually though!
