Well, seeing as there are actual important things going on in the world right now my problems may seem trivial. In the words of Gloria Gayner, "I will survive."
The world has an el guapo that is a little less nice than the one it had yesterday. The reason why is something that doesn't have to be spoken of. I'm just going to cut my ties and move on. I'm sure I will have that moment that I have so often had where I come across someone who as realized their mistake only after it has been too late. Most people like to gloat at those moments or try to be as cruel as possible, I think the sight of me better off is painful enough at those moments.
ok, now on to teh goofy stuff.
Last night was our annual Xmas gift exchange. It was hosted at my ex-roommate's house. I got there a bit early with my current roommate but people started showing up shortly after us. I'm going to skip all the boring stuff and go right to the important things: food and gifts.
We had quite a spread. My roommate and I contributed some garlic fried chicken from this chinese place right by the house. There was all kinds of other good stuff too. The usual stuff like ham and mashed potatoes right beside some more untraditional things like lumpia and bul-goki. It was all very good.
Then it was time for the gift exchange. We had drawn numbers and there was already controversy. The hosts, my ex-roommates, had drawn the numbers 1 and 40. The first and the very last numbers. Both of these numbers are the most strategic numbers in the gift exchange. The first person, of course, gets to pick first...and also gets to trade whatever gift he/she ends up with for any other gift at the very end. The last person of course also gets to see all of the other open gifts and can decide to steal unless the gift has already been stolen twice.
Anyway after a lot of grumbling the game began. I was number 17 and no one had stolen a gift right up until the point that I selected mine. I got a new gift from the ones available and it turned out to be some kick ass computer speakers with a subwoofer. So of course it was immediately stolen from me. Then I decided to steal this counter top grill from someone. I really wanted a George Foreman grill but this would have done just fine. So as soon as I get it someone else steals it from me. So then i pick a new gift and it's a small desktop radio/cd player. Well that was stolen from me right away too. So then I pick a new gift and it's a small webcam. I don't think it was mac compatible so I wasn't terribly disappointed when that was immediately stolen. So then I got some other gift that wasn't immediately stolen but I didn't have it for very long.
I eventually ended up with this mini refrigerator. I guess I can keep it in my office at work under my desk. The fridge at work is nasty and stinky because people never clean out there crap.
After the party I had to drive The Funk and his girlfriend and her friend home. We had trouble because The Funk has a million keys and we couldn't figure out which one was the right one. We also had problems because he drives a Toyota Supra and it really doesn't have much space in the back and The Funk had it all full of crap. While we were moving stuff to the trunk area his alarm kept setting itself and going off. Eventually we all got in the car and I got them home.
Today I lounge around the house, listen to music, and maybe try to install my new stereo equipment.
