Today my Grandmother goes in for her surgery. She got an MRI and the doctor did not like what he saw. Apparently, according to my aunt, one of her lungs was completely black and half of the other lung was back. Her doctor initially thought it was pulmonary fibrosis but the doctor who looked at the MRI said it looked more like cancer. Either way it is in it's final stages and does not look good. My aunt said she was going to call me today after the the surgen speaks to her.
They haven't told my Grandfather about my Grandmother's condition because he is scheduled to have his own surgery next tuesday and if he knew Grandma was in this condition he would refuse to have his own surgery. We are taking him to Stanford to have his leg operated on. A few months back my Grandfather had a bloodclot in his leg and needed surgery. The main concern was taking car of the bloodclot and not much thought was given to making sure that the circulation to his leg would be affected. He started having complications, made worse by his diabetes. The doctors wanted to aputate his leg but we just couldn't let them do that without looking at our alternatives. So, we took him to Stanford and they said they would be able to help him.
Needless to say, I am going to be an emotional wreck for the next few weeks. I'll try to find diversions but it will be hard. I don't love anyone on this earth more than my Grandparents.
