I forgot to tell you about last night. I went to Kelly's place to pick up my sunglasses. Somehow I ended up playing some N64 game with her son for like hours. Hours and hours of him killing me with the golden gun. She made me Pokemon Mac n Cheese. MAC N CHEESE! It was really tastey. I wish I could make mac n cheese at my place.

So, i'm in Santa Cruz right now in the room at the Hampton Inn. This room is costing me $130 a night. Thank god we are only staying one night. That doesn't make it feel any better though. I'm like 45 minutes away from my house. I can go there at any time, but I'm here paying $130, plus $5.95 for internet access.
My parents arrived at about 10:30, a lot later than I thought they would. It seems my dad went to play golf after he got off work. So they drove to an Albertson's near my house and I went to retrieve them. My dad drove the Corvette and my mom drove her Honda. When I got out of my car my dad said he didn't like driving my car that far. I told him he wouldn't have had to if I had gone to pick it up.
Anyway we took the Vette back to the house and went to Cabrillo Cafe for breakfast. My parents really liked that place the last time they came out and wanted to go back there. The food was great as usual.
We talked about what they wanted to do and they really didn't know. I asked if they would be up for driving all the way to San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle. My dad said that he would be able to drive but my mom said he wouldn't. That's when she let me know that after he got home from work early this morning he went to play a quick round of golf. So basically he had been up since 8pm the previous day without any sleep. They asked about Capitola because they had heard me talk about it but I told them that there really wasn't anything to do there. You really only go there for the drive and to have brunch but then you come back home.
So my dad said that we should go to Santa Cruz and then maybe head on to Monterey. We drove down here and as we were actually pulling in to Santa Cruz they called me on my cell phone (we drove separate cars). They called because my dad was having a hard time staying awake so they wanted to find a hotel ASAP. We pulled into a few places and they were all full. Finally we headed back towards Highways 17/1, on the way out of Santa Cruz and tried this place. They had a vacancy and my dad was about to fall asleep so I just got the room. That was at about 12:30
My dad went to sleep and since it was so damn early in the day I took my mom to Capitola to walk around and do some window shopping. We had to drive around forever to find parking. All the people who parked in the parking lot were assholes. They all parked crooked, taking up more than one space. We finally found a spot and squeezed into it.
We then walked down to the beach and sat on a bench for a while. We stayed there for a while and then got up to walk around some more. They really have a lot of crap in Capitola. All the shops are filled with the most abstract things. Nothing you really want to buy but I guess they make some money or they wouldn't be there.
We drove back to Santa Cruz taking the back roads. Now here we are in the room watching some movie with Eddie Murphy and that Luke guy. My dad is still snoring away. We aren't even 45 minutes away from my house. He will wake up around 7 or 8 and be wide awake. I don't know what he will do with himself tonight when my mom and I want to sleep. He isn't going to go out and party, that's ridiculous.
If my dad wasn't so stubborn I would have driven to Turlock last night. Then this morning I would have driven the Vette back to Fremont with my parents following me in the Toyota Camry. We could have spent the day in San Francisco or if my dad was really tired, like he was, I could have driven them back to Turlock where he could have gone to sleep.
Tonight I'm going to take my parents to dinner at Shadowbrook. Tomorrow they need to at least go down to Monterey.
Oh, i forgot to mention that when I drove the Vette back to the house from Albertson's the Check Engine light would come on whenever I pressed the gas pedal. At stop lights it would be off but come on when I gave it some gas. I asked my dad if it has been doing this since he had that shop put those catalytic converters on. He said he didn't know what I was talking about, the light wasn't on at all when he drove it out to Fremont or any other time he had driven it. Hmmmm...that is hard to believe. I guess it's a good thing I haven't spent my bonus yet or put it away somewhere hard to get. I have a feeling i'm going to spend every penny getting my car diagnosed and fixed.
