Ok, first let me tell you that monkeyboy seriously needs to not spend any money between now and Friday. I am in the danger zone!
So, in recaping my trip to the East Coast I left off at arriving at the hotel and waiting for Mokee.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Soho. I was a little worried that the hotel would be shitty but it turned out great, and it was only $159 a night! It was a steal! The location was great too. It was right where Soho, Chinatown, and Little Italy come together. I think I already told you that.
So anyway, I took a shower and Mokee came over and we got dressed and headed out to have dinner at this place called Sushi Samba on 7th Ave. It's a Japanese/Brazillian/Peruvian fusion restaurant/bar/hipster hangout. We couldn't get seated right away 'cause the place was packed so we had drinks. They had a bowl of live baby crabs all crawling all over each near the front up on the sushi counter. I don't know if they cook the little suckers up or what.
We waited for a while, listening to the drum and bass music. They also threw in some latin house rythms in the mix. The scene was actually pretty cool. I was a little overdressed. I guess New Yorkers don't dress up for much of anything, which is cool.
We finally got seated and ordered our food. We had a few bowls of edamame while we looked over the menu. I started off with the Lobster Ceviche. It was magnificent. It was presented in a giant plate with ice and a lobster head sticking straight up in the middle. Just in front of the lobster head was a banana leaf wrapped in a cup like shape and inside was the delicious lobster/mango/and lime ceviche. It was sooooooooo wonderful. I could have eaten a giant bowl of it. Then I had some pan seared sea scallops. Again, it was to die for. The scallops were so buttery in their texture, i just wanted to put them all in my mouth and mush them around. Then I had a plate of Samba Sashimi brought out. It was basically a mixed plate of sashimi that the chef picked out. mmmmm raw fishies! For my main course I had the 3 meat Churrasco a' Rio Grande. I had the rib eye, pork tenderloin, and chorizo. The meal also came with rice, black beans, and chimichurri. I don't even think I need to tell you how wonderful that meal was. My belly was so fat. The little asian lady hostess came over and complimented me on my selections and how much I was actually able to finish. Monkeyboy is a chow eatin' mofo' yo!
I don't know exactly what Mokee ordered but it all looked really good. It looked like teriyaki and other stuff. There were some purple mashed potatoes that she had me try that were excellent.
The bill was brought to us and although it was pricey, I think it was well worth it. I'm not going to have that many truely amazing dining experiences so when I do I don't mind blowing a large wad od cash on it.
We kicked it there for a while and then Mokee got a call from her friend Lisa (i can't believe I actually remembered her name!). Anyway, she was at some club called Trust and wanted us to come over. We hopped in a cab and went over. The thing that struck me on the cab ride over was how everywhere you looked there were people walking around. At this point is was about 1am and in every neighborhood you would see people walking around and congregating at their nearby restaurant or bar. It was just so wonderful.
We got to the other place and when I looked around I couldn't believe my eyes. We were in the meat packing district! SEINFELD!!! Did you ever see that episode where George gets taken to a club where there are nothing but supermodels and Jerry doesn't believe him so George tries to take him there and all there is in the area are a bunch of meat packing places? That is where I was! A club in the meat packind district that used to be a meat packing place.
So we went in, met her friend, got drinks, checked the scene out, then went outside. While inside I could have sworn that I saw HOTHOTHOT Renee shaking her booty.
So we went outside and a few more friends of the bunch showed up and we were trying to decide were to go next. While we were waiting Courtney Love stumbled by in a tacky fur coat with some girl hanging all over her. She was totally wasted.
So then Lisa decided we were going to go to one of her hangouts. There were way to many people to fit in one cab so we were going to have to spit up into groups. Lisa hailed a cab and then grabbed me and said, "you're coming with me." I was scared. Mokee got stuck in another group and we were off without her. I had no idea where we were going.
It ended up being this small lounge type place with loud music where all the Ivy Leagers hang out. Lisa is an Ivy Leager. She graduated from Yale and now she is moving back out here to the West Coast to pursue her MD PHD. She's smarty mcsmartypants!
So it was like almost 3am at this point and Lisa was drunk and smootching somebody like crazy. Everytime this somebody turned around he had a smootch planted on him. Sheesh. heeheehee. Lisa was a very friendly girl and she made the Monkey feel very welcome in New York, especially around Ivy League peepz who were all about families and phat bank.
Mokee and I cut out of there just before closing at 4am and headed back to teh hotel.
oh, I almost forgot about the asshole that I had a run in with at that place. Some goomba mothafucka' got all up on me and started talking shit. Now he was really drunk so I gave him a lot of leeway with the shit he was saying. He stumbled up on me and put his arm around me as was all like, "yo, Carlitoooo! what's up? Me and yooz gotta go downstairs and get somma dem spanish bitches." and I was all like, "my name isn't Carlito." and he was like, "nah, Carlito, weez gotta go downstairs right now" and i was like, "you have the wrong person, you need to find your friends and go" and he was like "your my friend Carlito" at this point my posse all stood up and the dude backed away and stumbled off. I don't know how much good an Ivy League posse could possibly be in a fight but hey, it got him to leave before I beat his ass and ended up getting wacked by the mob later on.
