The Late Thanksgiving Monkey of the Week:
So on Friday Lucy wasn't able to go out with me and my co-workers because she went out on Thursday night and got trashed.
My co-workers and I went to Lucky 13 for some drinks, then we had dinner at Home (the name of the restaurant). The food at Home was great again. They had macaroni and cheese listed as a meal as well as a side dish so I had that along with some fries. I also had a hearts of romaine salad. The mac n cheese had black forest ham chunks in it but it was made out of bow tie pasta instead of the elbow pasta in the side dish. It also didn't have a bread crust. It was still good though.
I think I should have had the chile rojo instead. My co-workers got that and it smelled sooo good. They said it tasted great. One co-worker ordered a couple of side dishes instead of an entree. He got the sloppy joe sliders and a side of mac n cheese.
Afterwards we went back to Lucky 13 for drinks and to BS. It was a nice night.
Saturday night was my co-workers 21st birthday. I picked up Lucy at 9pm and we drove down to Dave n Busters in Milpitas. When we got there I called my co-worker to ask her where she was and she said that she was at Outback Steakhouse. Apparently she wasn't able to get a table for her large party so they went around the corner to Outback. We walked over and we hung out at the bar while the bday crew had dinner. Afterwards the bday girl came up to me and let me know that all her friends wanted to go back to the city instead of D n' B. Since they didn't know where they were going to go I just wished her a happy bday and Lucy and I went out own way.
We decided to check out111 Minna since we didn't get to go there the night before. There were some issues navigating the streets of SF to get to the gallery. There always are because you have to deal with one way streets and streets that don't allow left turns and others that don't allow right turns. In the end we found sweet parking right in front of the club.
I didn't know what was going on there since I hadn't checked before we left. It turned out to be sort of an old school hip hop dj but there was also a lot of other eclectic stuff thrown in the mix. This is one of the reasons that I love this place. It's not a club, it's not a bar, it's not an art gallery, it's like the perfect blend of all three. Poocake would have creamed her pants last night. The place was packed with shaggy haired skinny white hipster boys who wear dirty clothes and stink.
The art was actually in the process of being created while the party was going on. There was one large mural type thing that 3 or 4 artists where working on all night. It was pretty cool to watch.
Lucy and I drank Havana Sidecars and chilled on the hard tree trunk sofa. We just kind of chit chatted and people watched. We got very cuddly too. It was wonderful. We were touching and stroking and looking into each others eyes. I was on cloud nine.
The DJ finished the night off with Hall and Oates' I Can't Go For That and we were off. As we were driving down 880 and almost back in Fremont Lucy's phone rang. She answered it and I could tell it was another guy and he was asking a lot of questions. She was having a hard time answering him because she felt very uncomfortable with me right there and she told him she would call him when she got home.
As we were approaching her place she explained that the person who had called was her ex-boyfriend. She said that they had agreed to just be friends but that he freaked when she told him that she was out with me. She said that she didn't want to hurt me or him and she totally confused about what she wanted. I told her not to worry about it, that at least I wasn't going to pressure her one way or the other.
She called me up this morning to talk some more. She explained that she had broken up with her ex because he had cheated on her and gotten another girl pregnant. She said that she still had feelings for him and didn't want him out of her life but thought that they could be best friends. She didn't think he would freak the way he did the first time he heard her say she was seeing someone. She also started to tell me that she came with a lot of baggage and blah blah blah. She told me that she really wanted to be friends with me while she worked things out with her ex. I very unenthusiastically said "sure" She said I didn't really sound excited about being her friend and I told her she was right and I really wasn't interested in being her friend.
i don't know what is going to happen now. I guess I won't be talking to her anymore. hmph.
