***Weekend Recap***
Friday night I drove to my parents house in Turlock. I turned on my brothers computer intending to do some web surfing and mp3 downloading. While the computer was booting up I thought I would lay down for a second. I ended up falling asleep and didn't wake up until the next morning.
I woke up the next morning and spent most of Saturday changing the brake pads on the Corvette. Not that it takes a whold day to change brake pads but I didn't have the right tools at my parents house and I had to improvise just about every step of the way.
That afternoon I went to Tony Roma's in Modesto for Dennis' birthday party. Dinner was good although I wasn't that hungry for some reason and I felt stuffed halfway through my meal.
Afterwards we all went back to our respective homes as there were not after dinner plans. Dennis called me up about 8:30 and asked me if I wanted to go to Staley's for a few drinks with him and Karah. I thought that would be cool so I met them at Gina's house.
Staley's is this little dive bar that a few locals hang out in. It is usually not that crowded, which is the reason that Dennis wanted to go there. They didn't have Patron Silver but they did have the Anejo. The bartender asked me if I wanted her to chill the bottle, which made me very happpy. It let me know that this person knew what the hell they were doing. Anejo is a sipping tequila which is best served chilled. If you are going to pound down shot after shot you drink the Silver.
When we first walked in the door of the bar a girl caught my eye. She was very petite with a nice tan skin tone and a beautiful smile. It was Leanne. I think I have known her since I was about 4 years old. I have seen her very rarely since elementary school, which is very strange when you consider how small Turlock is. She is one of those people who will always be a part of my life even if I were never to see her again. I remember one time when I was over at Gordon's (Leanne's cousin who I went to Pre-school with) house for a slumber party. Leanne was trying to pee standing up like boys do. You just can't experience something like that with someone and not have a special place in your heart for them. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to speak to her as she was busy with other things. From what I have heard she has two children now but I don't know if she is/was married. I hope someday we get a chance to sit down and have a conversation. I just have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that there is little to no chance of that ever happening.
As the night went on more and more people started coming into the bar. They were all very well dressed. Too well dressed for being in a dive bar like Staley's. Some of their faces were very familiar. It turns out that the class of 1992 (I graduated in 1993)was having their 10 year reunion. I still haven't decided whether of not I will be attending my reunion next year. I wasn't very popular in high school and I would probably just end up standing in a corner by myself the whole night, unless of course Dennis goes; then we would both be standing in the same corner by ourselves the whole night. The only reason I would want to go is to see whose life has become a complete disaster but I don't think those people would show up to a reunion.
I wasn't able to get up at 6am on Sunday to go to breakfast with my parents. This has happened the last few times that I have gone back to Turlock and I think my parents are starting to get upset. I got up around 10 am and started washing clothes. I finally got a chance to go online. I downloaded some mp3's. It was mostly 80's rock and pop. I love the 80's and everything about it. I wish I could travel in time back to the 80's and live it again. I burned a couple of CD's with the music I had downloaded and will probably spend the next week all 80's out.
Sunday afternoon I went to my Uncle Gilbert's house. Him and his wife Michelle just had a pool put in and were having a BBQ. Their house is huge. I wish I could have the job and pay that I have now but over in the Central Valley. I would be livin' large instead of being damn near broke all the time. It is just way too expensive to live in the Bay Area. The food was damn good. My little cousins Emily and Sarah are growing up so fast. My uncle is Mexican and Michelle is German so of course their daughters are absolutely beautiful. It always seems to work out that way when you have a mix like that.
