sup dawg!
I'm going to Washington DC June 15 - 22 for a retirement plan conference. I'll also be taking an exam to become a Certified IRA Services Professional. Woohoo! Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money!
So I had to buy my own plane ticket and reserve the room on my card because our company no longer has it's own travel agency. It will probably take the accounting department like 2 to 3 weeks to reimburse me for my expenses so I'll have to live like i'm poor for a while.
I loved it when we had our own travel agency. You would just call them, they would ask a few questions about your preferences, and they took care of the rest. A few days later you would get an envelope in the interoffice mail with your itinerary. Now you have to do all that shit for yourself and no snazzy envelope with an itinerary to carry around and show off to people to prove you are important.
I haven't done much travelling lately too, which was kind of depressing. When I was a little worker monkey I was ordered to travel just about every month. I got to go all over this great country of ours (yes America is a wonderful, beautiful, country!). Then I got promoted and all of a sudden no one is ordering me to go nowhere. I would have to order myself to go places and I just can't do that.
When I was ordered to go places I would have no idea how much it all cost the company. The only think I knew was that my food expense limit was $20 for breakfast, $30 for lunch, and $50 for dinner. Even then I would still eat at Arby's and bring all the money back to the accounting department. Now that I would have to take it upon myself to travel I get to see every penny that has to be spent and it makes me all nervous.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to going to DC. I'll be staying in Alexandria, VA in the luxurious Hilton Alexandria Old Town. I hope they gotz lots of booze nearby! I hope the DC area has good public transportation too since I am forgoing a rental car. I'm going to spend the next month finding all the cool places in DC to hang out and eat at.
