Sorry about forgetting the monkey of the week on friday. I am going to have a special Washington DC Monkey of the Week up as soon as possible.
On Friday cakeboy called me and said that he had taken his nissan in for it's 30K mile service and they gave him a full size truck as a loaner. He wanted to know if I felt like moving my bed over to his place so I wouldn't have to pay for a u-haul to move my stuff on Sunday. I thought that would be a good idea especially since we could then move the bed a night. We were experiencing a major heatwave last week and it would have sucked moving my stuff in the middle of the day.
So after work I went straight home and called cakeboy when I was ready to move the bed. He came over and we took the matress and box spring out to the truck and then I dismantled the frame, headboard, and footboard. We loaded all the stuff into the truck bed and tied it all down.
As we were doing this my roommates showed up with a u-haul of their own. They wanted to move their stuff to their new place also. cakeboy started helping them with some stuff because they are both very small and can't really pick up things that are too large or heavy. After cakeboy had helped with a few items I said we should take the bed over to his place.
I got my bed all put together in my new room in no time. I decided to go back to the house and bring a few of my other things over. Everything else I had could be loaded up into the VW and brought over with a few trips...make that a lot of trips. So i was going back and forth taking a few things at a time. It turned out that my roommates had recruited cakeboy and his truck to move their things. They had called their friends to help them but no one showed up. My roommates brother even told him he couldn't help because he had to go to the movies.
I can't believe cakeboy helped them move all their crap. Oh well, that was his call to make.
On Saturday I had to go to George and Thuy's (pronounced Tweeeeee)wedding. It was a nice ceremony. The men in the wedding all wore traditional philipino barongs. That was a very good call by the groom because it was freakin' hot. I couldn't image having to wear a traditional tuxedo as hot as it was on Saturday.
The reception was very nice. The food was good. We had salmon and a chicken breast stuffed with spinach and some cheese (i think fetta). There was also some rice and veggies on the plate (CARROTS!). The entertainment started when The Funk grabbed the mic. He went off into a long speech type thing about him and George being friends and all of the things they used to do and then he called for a toast. It seemed a little ackward because he wasn't the best man but he kind of took over the best man's duties at the reception. Then he sang a song for the newlyweds on this MTV karaoke machine that he brought with him. He sang an Englebert Humperdink song. It think it's called "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" or something.
The real entertainment was a group of polynesian dancers. It was like having strippers at a wedding yo! The were shaking their thangs so fast.
On Sunday I went back to my old pad to clean up and take care of a few other things. The old roommates were having a garage sale so I lugged out a few things that I didn't want to take with me to the new place. I made $35 so far. I don't know if any more of my stuff sold but my roommates are going to have another yard sale next weekend. I finished cleaning my room and the bathroom in no time. They are going to have to clean the rest of the place. I gave them a check for the last months utilities. It ended up being $160! The girl roommate said that she had not paid the PG&E bill for 3 months, that's why it was so high. I have given her a check ever month so I don't know where my money has gone if she hasn't paid for the freakin' utilities for 3 months. I handed them the keys and left for the last time. Well, not really the last time, I have to go back to check for my mail for a couple of weeks to make sure I get anything important.
I left a few things in the fridge unfortunately. I left a case of 7up, 4 cups of yogurt, a jar of goobers peanut butter and jelly, a jar of mayonaise, 3 boxes of breakfast hot pockets, and a bag of frozen turkey burgers. Blah! I left all the really important stuff!
I will be finishing up my DC Updates tomorrow. Believe me the real story is the last few days of that trip!
